Quem olha pro rostinho sorridente do Raphael Montes, não imagina que ele poderia ser autor de um livro tão sangrento quanto o “Jantar Secreto". Posso dizer com tranquilidade: esse livro não é indicado para quem tem estômago fraco. Ele perturba mesmo.

O livro conta a história de 4 amigos de infância que se mudam para o Rio de Janeiro. Alugam juntos um apartamento confortável e cada um começa a cursar uma graduação em cursos completamente diferentes: administração, gastronomia e medicina. Um dos 4 jovens, sempre teve o comportamento diferente dos demais, talvez por ter sofrido um trauma ainda quando criança. Ele passava todo o tempo no quarto, se alimentando mal e na frente de computadores e videogames. Os amigos sempre tentavam compreender e relevavam as atitudes, por considerar tudo o que ele já havia passado.
“Em fevereiro de 2010, a poucos dias do carnaval, cheguei ao Rio de Janeiro acompanhado de Miguel e minha mãe, Hilda. Ela fazia questão de ajudar a escolher o lugar onde eu moraria com meus amigos. Queria continuar a exercer algum controle sobre mim a todo custo…”
A vida adulta foi mostrando que nada é fácil e muito menos da forma que planejamos. Os jovens se formam, mas a maioria é um recém formado frustrado. O administrador se torna vendedor de uma livraria, o chefe de cozinha não consegue parar em nenhum emprego por se considerar bom demais, o médico trabalha em um hospital publico e o outro segue sendo virgem, gordo, sem emprego e sem animo para mudar a situação atual.
Mesmo com todas as frustrações da vida adulta, no aniversário do Leitão (apelido de um dos amigos), eles decidem contratar uma garota de programa, com a intenção de que talvez isso mude a vida do amigo – aparentemente - depressivo. E estavam certos. Leitão se apaixona pela garota de programa, e ela começa a virar uma visita constante. Ate ai tudo bem, já que agora o amigo não ficava mais trancado no quarto sozinho. O que ninguém pensou foi em como Leitão estava pagando os serviços da nova companheira.
Em um dia aparentemente normal, o corretor entra em contato cobrando os aluguéis do ultimo semestre. O responsável pelos pagamentos era o Leitão, que assumiu sem nenhum constrangimento ter gastado todo o dinheiro de 6 meses de aluguel. Pronto, a confusão estava armada. Nenhum deles gostaria de voltar para a cidade de onde veio, muito menos voltar como fracassado. Eles precisavam conseguir uma forma de quitar a dívida do aluguel. A única coisa que eles possuíam era um carro velho, que mesmo sendo vendido, não seria o suficiente para quitar a dívida. Apesar de tensos e com vontade de matar o Leitão, eles precisavam de uma solução urgente.
“Nós nos abraçamos, sem dizer nada. Ainda que eu me sentisse mal pelo jantar, naquele momento pensei que, na escala de crueldades, tinha gente pior no mundo.”
Decidiram fazer um jantar para alguns interessados, que pagariam pelo menu ofertado. Depois de decidirem o que fariam, começaram a distribuir as funções: um seria o responsável pelas compras e seria o garçom, um seria o responsável pela cozinha e pela preparação dos pratos, um estaria de plantão no hospital e Leitão ficou encarregado de divulgar o evento na internet e fazer os convites.
“A evolução do homem acompanha a evolução da gastronomia. Não me interessa o que você viu, muito menos o que aconteceu com Miguel… tudo isso é pequeno demais diante do que a gente está fazendo, não percebe?…”
Tudo aparentemente resolvido: cardápio, layout dos convites, copos e taças comprados... Quando Leitão conta aos amigos que divulgou um cardápio diferente do combinado. Ao invés de um cardápio com entrada, prato principal e sobremesas convencionais, Leitão divulgou no site que no jantar seria servido carne humana.
Olha... Isso o que eu escrevi até aqui, não é nem um terço do que acontece no livro. Poderia até chamar o livro de gore, porque a gente consegue ler e imaginar com uma clareza absurda, muito sangue, morte, medo e desespero, de uma forma que eu nunca li antes em nenhum livro.
Raphael Montes, foi capaz de descrever uma história de horror de forma tão assustadoramente detalhada, que nunca mais vou olhar pra um açougue com os mesmos olhos.

Não sei o que é pior, esse monte de robô comentando, que já tira um pouco a credibilidade da fonte, ou um texto sem nenhum crítica numa narrativa bizarra, que tenta chocar por chocar, como o Lars Von Trier, só que sem talento ou que escreve para adultos com um texto completamente juvenil e personagens rasos e embutidos de preconceitos. Enfim, as pessoas tendem a superestimar qualquer coisa que o capitalismo endosse, e o Raphael Montes é a maior prova nacional disso. Lembrando que temos ótimos escritores de horror no país, como a Ana Paula Maia, mas insistem em ficar glorificando esse moço que tem uma escrita mediana pra ruim. E sim, li vários livros dele pra poder falar sobre.
